Two years ago when I started using natural beauty products, the two most common misconceptions in Holland about natural cosmetics( both personal care products and makeup) were: 1) that they don’t work as well as non-natural products and 2) that green products smell strange or weird.
Fortunately, with the natural beauty products becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands both crazy ideas seem to give up their place to genuine interest in natural cosmetics.
The scent of a product is just as important to me as the results it delivers. We all enjoy products with nice scents but once you start using products free of synthetic fragrances you notice or should I say “smell” a difference. And if you think that all beauty products made with 100% natural ingredients smell only floral or herbal, I made a list for you with products which smell so yummy that you would want to eat them up.
It goes without saying that regardless of the desires these products bring up in you and your stomach, you should NOT eat any of them.
I will talk about the superb results which these products deliver in separate posts, now I’ll let my nose lead.
I am still to meet a person who doesn’t smile with dreamy eyes (with a vision of a cookie, I guess) when they smell Soapwalla Luxe Almond Body Polish.
Every time I open the jar I thank my stars our bathroom is too far from the kitchen and I can’t grab a spoon and eat this body scrub up.
The Soapwalla Almond Body Polish makes me think of marzipan or the traditional Dutch gevulde koek (a cookie filled with almond paste). A quick look at the ingredients list – sugar, almond oil, ginger, cardamom, baking soda, sea salt, and you think “where is the flour? I’m going to bake those Dutch cookies!”.
Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask is the embodiment of yummy smelling products. Thanks to the cacao in it, this mask smells like a brownie in a jar. I can’t put in words how appealing this jar is to the chocolate addict that I am. It’s such a shame Josh Rosebrook recommends using this beautiful mask only once a week. On the plus side, I get to enjoy the yummy cacao scent for a whole 45 minutes!
When you open the bottle or put some of Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser on your palm, you immediately smell its sweet strawberry scent. It’s a scent you love or hate.
Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser was the product which made me think of the difference between natural and synthetic fragrances. Although the strawberry oil is used in this cleanser for its exfoliating, antiaging and brightening properties, it also is responsible for the signature scent of the Brightening Cleanser. The scent is however very…. natural, it has nothing to do with synthetic fragrances.
If you find yourself liking the scent but you think it’s too strong, give it a few applications. After two days of use it diminished and although I still smell the strawberry oil, I don’t find it strong anymore.
The combination of the two main ingredients of this heavenly mask are raw manuka honey and Aronia berry powder make me think of a toast and cup of tea.
By the way, don’t be fooled by the main ingredients I just mentioned - the Bio Active Healing Manuka Mask is no jam and deserves a place of honor in your beauty cabinet. It hydrates, regenerates and heals. Hello glowing skin!
The Hurraw! Lip balms come in 22 scents and it should not come as a surprise to you that the yummiest of them all is the chocolate one. Needless to say that a lip balm smelling so tasty is the most difficult product not to try.
I’d love to hear which products you think smell yummy. Let me know in the comments below.
Breakouts are affected by many factors and always come as a surprise. I’d say “expect the unexpected”.
That’s why today I am talking about what to do when you get a breakout. What you can do to support your skin and which products come handy.
