Ageing is probably the one skin condition which hardly needs introduction. One day you look in the mirror and you notice fine lines and wrinkles, age spots have appeared, the skin is less plump. Drooping of the eyebrows and eyelids, looseness and fullness under the cheeks and jaw are also visible because the skin loses its elasticity too as it ages.
There are two types of skin ageing – intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic skin aging refers to ageing which occurs naturally in the skin – genetics, ethnicity, gravity’s effect on our skin, chronological age. Extrinsic ageing is caused by external factors, which are to a great extend controllable – sun exposure, pollution, diet, stress, alcohol, smoking, etc.
The condition of your skin such as dehydration, sensitivity, acne, etc or a combination of them, should also be taken into consideration when selecting your skincare products. Make sure to identify your skin type first though.
Some skin conditions require consultation by a doctor.
